Resolved Question: Hiring a Marriage Proposal Planner: Reasonable or Ridiculous?

Will you marry me? While the words themselves may be simple, the process of planning the perfect proposal can be incredibly anxiety provoking. As such, in recent years, a new service has cropped up in the wedding industry: marriage proposal planners. For a fee, these consultants advise men, and sometimes women, on how to create the ideal scenario to pop the big question. Sarah Pease, the owner of Brilliant Event Planning in New York, got the idea to offer proposal-planning services after one of her friends proposed with an engagement ring at the bottom of a pail of Kentucky Fried Chicken. “I figured there must be a better way,” she said. (Though she added that the couple in question is now happily married.) Michele Velazquez decided to open Heart Bandits in Los Angeles after her boyfriend (now husband and business partner) executed a somewhat uninspired proposal. Lacking a timeline, Marvin Velazquez proposed at the end of a sunset cruise as the boat was docking. Then, he had no plan for how to celebrate, so they just went home. Pease charges $500 to devise a plan while Velazquez charges $99 to give an idea. Fees increase if the planners are called upon to assist with execution, and that’s in addition to the costs charged by the venders themselves. And yet, no matter how much money is spent, marriage proposal planners have no control over the most important thing of every: whether or not your boyfriend or girlfriend will say “yes.” What do you think of a marriage proposal planner? Do you think it's necessary?

Resolved Question: Could the legalization of marijuana and legalization of gay marriage be the solution to our economic woes?

Do not approach this with a political viewpoint and just hear me out. Legalizing weed creates new jobs. First off, there are the farmers and cultivators. Secondly, we have security personnel to protect the crops. Thirdly, there's the transportation. And finally, we have every the different places it could be sold. Home Depot, Wal-Greens, Target, etc. Not to mention, if could benefit the economy if taxed properly. As a side note, drug cartel business would diminish greatly. Gay Marriage could help local economies. every marriages cost money. Think of every the businesses that would benefit from the legalization of gay marriage. Caterers, consultants, decorators, tailors and clothes manufacturers, food-related expenses, DJ's, photographers, gift stores, florists, hotels and airports (for people flying in from out of state for a wedding), restaurants, and the list goes on and on. Although these won't completely tug our country out of debt, it could at least give us a start. It should be evident that these two things would be beneficial to our economy. Is their anyone out there who can prove otherwise? You can't OD on marijuana and not every gays have AIDS. But even if you were correct, less people would mean there would be more money to go around. Didn't know if you knew that or not. You can't OD on marijuana and not every gays have AIDS. But even if you were correct, less people would mean there would be more money to go around. Didn't know if you knew that or not. If you legalized weed, that doesn't mean everyone will automatically go out and smoke weed. I'm guessing a good 95% of the customers will people who already smoke marijuana illegally and put money into the hands of crimicals. And if we're going with the substance abuse and driving argument, go back to illegalizing alcohol. That really worked wonders for our economy last time. Maybe you haven't been paying close attention to the youngest generation. A majority of us have no real ambitions or goals. But this goes back to what I said before about not everyone going out and smoking it just because it's legal. I know it's harmful, but so is any mind-altering substance (including alcohol). And just like with tobacco-products, the FDA will have warnings about marijuana too. Eric: I'm disgusted people like you exist. It's biological. thepewterguy: I don't smoke pot. Never have in my life. Never intend to. And of course there would be restrictions on who would be legally allowed to smoke it. Eric: I'm disgusted people like you exist. It's biological. thepewterguy: I don't smoke pot. Never have in my life. Never intend to. And of course there would be restrictions on who would be legally allowed to smoke it. Anyone thumbing down StephenG is an ignorant fool. @ hexa: You're not getting anywhere by name calling. That reduces you to a child on an intellectual level. How about instead of referring to me as a "jackass" you prove me wrong. Don't take a political side on the argument, but look at what I'm saying from an economc angle and debate from there.

Resolved Question: Good cover letter for job application?

Hi there, I would appreciate comments on my cover letter. It is for work experience rather than an actual job: Dear , I not writing this letter as a job application as much as a request for work experience. I am writing you as I have arrive to hear of "Business name" through T. Name, who used to be a lecturer during my National Diploma at "A College", and A. Open Question: Thinking of doing an undergraduate in economics, is it a difficult subject?

Ok, so I am a future and big picture thinker, a continguency planner, natural analyst, efficiency nut etc, and I'd be interested in becomming a business consultant or perhaps work in the stock market maybe even just a day trader, however I never finished highschool, have no credentials to my name, but i'm pretty smart in every aspects, top classes in high school no problem, so with this said, given my natural abilities, if I was sucessfully accepted for an undergraduate course in economics, would I struggle a lot? Would I receive my a$$ handed to me? I can receive this course beforehand http://www.thegreatcourses.com/tgc/courses/course_detail.aspx?cid=550 to prep me kinda thing. I have no prior economic study or understanding. Is it a difficult subject? By which I mean would I have to spend most of my days, every day studying and learning, because it's jammed pack with that many things? How complex is it? Compared to programming say or studying to become a psychologist or a medical doctor (General practioner)? Have you majored in economics? How was the work load? I'll be going for a BSc in Economics. === I ask about the workload because I can't dedicate the whole day to study, 6 hours a day if that, is it enough? Thanks.

Open Question: is it generally difficult to find someone like this? is it too shallow?

just looking for a trophy? the reason why i list quantitative items below is that i usually match well with people good at math, not socially awkward, family-centric, and like to hike/travel/surf/run/swim/etc. hence, on a quantitative basis, here is what i receive - education: college + higher physical: athletic income: >80s. smokes/drugs/drinks: no / no / only socially family: big immediate or big extended manners: well-mannered but can let loose when need to. personality: silly, logical, emotionally stable (every contradictions), family, *not* b*tchy and *not* b@stardly... often times, i feel like i have to look around the country and sometimes around the world to even meet someone like this... e.g. a blonde Boston babe from MIT...an Australian consultant in Barcelona...a business lady in Singapore. am i just looking for a trophy wife? in the past few years, i've made several changes to my life (exercised more, cleaner clip, earned more $$$, travelled more, etc.) to try and at least be on the playing field!!! and when i use "playing field," what i mean is that...if i were needy, fat, unshaven, and just a bum, well no gal would want me!! hence, if i were wealthy, athletic, clean clip, and not a bum, then wouldn't you be more attractive?

Open Question: How should I handle a domain name?

I am a consultant for an in-home party company. This makes me a tiny business owner of sorts (I file self-employed taxes). Our company provides us each with an individual "store-front" website that allows people to store for products online through us as well as sign up to be a consultant. In order to make myself stand out, I would like to purchase a domain name (ie: www.mycompanybyme.com) and have it automatically redirect to my company provided store front. I would like to do this mainly for SEO reasons. I think it is possible for me to put meta-tags in the redirect page (please correct me if I am wrong) as well as google analytic codes. What is the best way to do this?? I tried to find something explaining it online and came up short so I must answer upon the advice of the wonderful Yahoo Answers Community. Thanks!

Open Question: Is this my fault? That I hate my parents? Is this normal? Please... I feel helpless, need advice...?

First let me say that my parents are good people, just not good parents. Everyday my routine is to hear my parents complain about how my lifestyle is horrible and how I changed because I have no time to help out with their responsibilities and receive showed off as the "trophy kid" to their friends that pretend to adore them. I am deciding whether I should leave them, or try to help them to like their life as well. But for your information, please read on... My childhood was based on the principle of making people envy you. My parents taught me not to have any friends, or anyone at every because they are a waste of time and competition. Time should be spent on studying, and pleasing the family. Because of this, I was successful at a lot, but I did not have a childhood at every. This changed when I realized that I do not have to do this, because I do not owe my happiness to my parents. They chose for me to be brought into this world. Don’t receive me wrong, I am grateful for the fact that I had luxuries that many would not have in their lifetime, even though I was bordering poverty at a young age. However it does not give them an excuse to make me work for them and be their slave to satisfy their demands. My dad is a businessman and a success story, coming to Canada with nothing and produced a wealthy business. However, he is lazy, apathetic and ungrateful. He used to beat my mom and cheat on her while working me to death when I was young. When I was 11 years old, I had to comeback from school and work for him. Does not matter if I had homework, projects, or an exam tomorrow, I had to be his office assistant, book keeper, IT consultant, caretaker, and more. So on top of my studies, I had to go to the library to study on the topic computers, web page design, Microsoft office, and more to become those people for my dad. On top of that, he has the audacity to yell at me and beat me when I made a mistake. Worse yet, when he makes mistakes. For instance, when he was “working” and started to complain about the computer being slow and said it was my fault. I agreed with him to not provoke him, and started to check on the issue. Turns out (wasn’t surprise then or will ever be); he was having fun with pornography. Incidentally, I tried to delete the pages that he was looking through to cover his tracks, so nobody that was using the computer would ever accidentally be brought to those pages. Incidentally, he walked in and lost it. Beat me, threw me out of his office, and started to verbally abuse me. Since I had “no right” to suspect him of that, when there was a spyware called xxx something. On the other side, I use to adore my mom, she was a victim of my dad and I would always try to please her. However, I found out that she only cared about my success and her bragging rights. It would always bring her happiness that she could brag about my trophies, awards, recognition or worse yet being accepted into medical school in the UK while in my senior year of high school. However, I rejected the offer and started to like life. As a result, I am glad, I have a great gal, one best pal to do every single stupid thing that both our lives can muster and overall knowing that I am doing something that is for myself and not for others. As of now, I am transferring to one of the top, if not top business schools in Canada to become an investment banker. Even though my parents are still stuck on me becoming a doctor, not because of how much of a great field it is but because it’s another bragging right. In every my life, it seems that every they cared about was bragging rights. For instance, I wanted to take a break before I embark on my first year of university, but my parents forced me to go. They said, it will look bad on the family, and it was already shameful of me to reject medical school. every I wanted was to catch up with my childhood and be glad for once, but that was not enough for them. During that whole battle, I felt like more than an investment than a son being loved unconditionally. It’s unhappy really; every they want from me now is to be a millionaire and to retire them. It just so happens, that it is my aim to become an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. But if not, I have an excellent chance to work at a well-respected firm in Toronto that pays really well. Since my days as an intern there, impressed my boss so much that she is pressuring me to work for them and end my days at university. With every that, I am debating whether to leave my parents and move on by retiring them, or leave and arrive back to help them realize life is more than whatever they think it is. every I want is for them to like life, have fun because it is short. I have been trying to this for 2 years, but little progress is made. Please help, I lost my adore for them... I don’t feel anything when it comes to my parents. I beg of you to please help me out, thank you. Maybe it is a phase but I am not a teenager, and this has been going on for 15 years. If you do not want to read the relax because you do not have time, that's fine. However if you think you came to that conclusion because of the title, please read on. It will determine whether or not I shall give up on my parents and most probably their happiness as well.

Resolved Question: Why do people guilt me because I wasn't able to breastfeed?

My body just didn't produce milk.. it wasn't there. I sat in the hospital and at home for days after with a pump hooked up to my breasts and finally started getting a trickle. I pumped for 3 weeks and there still wasn't enough. I have flat nipples and my baby wasn't able to latch. I enlisted the help of the public nurse a relative of mine who is a L&D nurse (and breasfed every 5 of her kids) the wic dietician and lactation consultant. Nothing worked. Not a nipple shield. Not a nipple shell. My supply wouldn't increase and the pumping was taking its toll. I'm a dual enrolled fulltime student, and a single parent. I felt like I was going insane. I finally came to the realization that this wasn't for us. And switched to formula exclusively. My milk dried up -literally the next day. A few people (relatives and friends mostly) have guilted me into not breastfeeding. Even though, I feel like I made the right choice for myself and baby. Its a personal choice, and no one's business really but mine. But I think, they think I'm a bad mom or didn't try difficult enough. Regardless of that its still my choice and my choice alone in the end. While I wish I was able to successfully, I just don't think it was right for us. I just don't understand why they think they have the authority to look down on me (when most of them formula fed! lol!!) For example my grandma likes to toss it in my face that a cousin of mine (her mom was the L&D nurse) was able to breastfeed. Granted her mom helped her and she had lots of family support, which I didn't have. And that is WONDERFUL that she is able to.. but why does it have to be thrown in my face? I just want to move on and receive on with my life, but my grandmother in particular likes to rub it in that I couldn't do it (even though she couldn't either). I looked into milk banks.. and it isn't something that I can afford. I receive enough in student loans to just cover the bills basically. (And yes I have been looking for work for the past 3 months.. 3 resumes sent out every day.. I live in Michigan.. #1 in unemployment!) @Badassmommy - I don't think my reproductive choices are any of your business so your comment about 'not the best time' is moot. Mind your possess f#%king business. I asked about breastfeeding so lets stick to that assw$pe

Resolved Question: Past Tense or Present Perfect Tense?

I'm now taking an on-line business English writing course. The instructor is Japanese, just like myself. Today I found the following sentences in the text. -- The hotel's free breakfast service was introduced on the advice of International Resort Consultant, and it BECAME very popular both with young business people and with young female visitors who arrive to Tokyo for sightseeing. Is BECAME here OK? Or, should we make it HAS BECOME? According to his Japanese translation, the hotel's free breakfast is still very popular now. It was introduced in the past but it is still popular -- so shouldn't we use the gift ferfect tense? I would appreciate your advice.

Open Question: Travelling to China for tourism as well as business, help required?

I am travelling to china for 7 days for tourism as well as a business feasibility, need help about a few things. As far as the tourism is concerned, I am more into seeing natural beauty than buildings & restaurants. I will adore to look a few temples as well. The business side is entirely different. I want to visit some educational consultants to market some courses that we offer in UK (so that students from China can arrive to UK and study at our Institute, something that they already do with other education providers). For this purpose, I need to visit cities that are likely to have wealthy higher education students. My plan is to start from 2 days in Shanghai (business & a bit of tourism), then go to Nanjing for 1 day (business & a bit of tourism), then 1 day Dengfeng Henan (tousrim) and finally 2 days in Beijing (business & a bit of tourism). My flight is to Shanghai Airport and I am leaving China through Beijing hense the over sequence. But since every over is based on research, I am not sure if I have concluded my research at the right plan. Please advise me and I will be really really really thankful. Cheers every, may God bless you.

Open Question: is he just not that into me?

So i met this gentleman last year while on a business trip to Swaziland, he was also in the country for business we met on the last day of the trip (we were both leaving the next day) in the dinning hall and shared a table we clicked immediately and had a lengthy conversation which lasted until the staff turned the lights out and started locking up (basically kicking us out) he walked me to my room and as it turns out i was booked into his usual room. (there were just too many coincidences that day) he got stuck at the border on the day we left and he called me to tell me where he was and what was going on, he ended up driving throughout the night and he sent me sms's telling me how far from home he was the whole time. we kept in touch via calls, emails and sms's when we got back to our respective cities and tried to organize to meet up for a proper date (we are both consultants so scheduling is important) we couldn't receive dates together because our schedules kept clashing, then in December i was involved in a car accident which changed my focus and i broke contact. a few days ago i sent him an sms (in an attempt to reconnect), he remembered who i was and we agreed to meet up for lunch since i would be in the same city that day, on the day i called him to find out where we were meeting and he tells me he's still at a client. So I call for a rain-check but the whole time i have a feeling he wasn't really keen, we haven't spoken since... my question, should i let this possibly great relationship go? has this boat sailed? or should i persist and remind him how awesome and almost fated our meeting was?

Open Question: Driving evaluation: Where can I get one?

My mom is now 75 and she still has her license, but she shouldn't be driving any more. She's a menace and a threat to other drivers. We live in Massachusetts and right now there is no MA law that says that a person needs to be evaluated for their driving by a certain age, so there are hardly any businesses that offer this service. I think it's really important though and I'd like to take her to look a driver safety consultant or someone who can examine her driving and tell her how she can do better (and hopefully convince her not to steer any longer) without me having to say anything.

Open Question: BA in Psych, BA in Economics and MA Org psych Degree?

I have only 1 semester to complete my psych degree (with soc minor and counseling minor). I made this choice at the end of my 2nd year, because I just wanted to pick something that I felt was easy and also I wanted to pursue something counseling/therapist related with intentions of going to graduate school. I decided I don't want to be a therapist or a counselor. Ever since my recent internships (one with org development and the second within HR, both pretty good companies), I've realized I have a strong interest in business. Benefits, recruiting, compensation, employee relations every completely turn me off. I feel a growing interest in the more "difficult" business aspects, such as business development. I also care about money, so I don't feel comfortable knowing how low I'll be making with my psych degree before I receive my masters degree. Before my internships, I wanted to receive a org psych degree from Columbia and become a consultant. This still interests me, and I intend on getting this degree after having a year experience in a relevant job and then go to school part time while adding up 2-3 more years of work experience below my belt. I still want to do this, but now I am thinking about getting a 2nd BA in economics and then pursuing my MA. I am also thinking of pursuing an MBA a few years after the completion of my MA, when I'm more ground in my career. Should I receive this 2nd degree? I'm afraid I won't find a decent business related job with my psych degree but I'm also wondering if I'll just be wasting time getting a 2nd degree when perhaps I can still receive a business related job once I start my MA degree? What are the pros AND cons? What are prospective career options with these degree?

Resolved Question: Unhappy with my SEO consultants advice needed please.?

I'm paying a company nearly £150 a month to do offline SEO for my website www.stevewatkinsphotography.co.uk and I'm not sure about the service I'm getting from the company. The lady has quite a high profile in social media and comes high for terms like marketing by web and adwords Hence why I employed her, but I'm in doubt about the service I am now receiving. And I'd like to know what others think am I being ripped off or is it communication breakdown? It's been six months with almost no movement in terms of statistics. Up a couple of points this month down the same the next. Initially they said this was due to my site being flash based, I changed this straight away on their advice and its been 3-4 months. Now it's not flash based but a word press made to look like flash designed for photographers. The word press theme is well known photocrati very SEO compatible, iPad and iPhone friendly and such like, Sure there may have a couple of bugs that need changing here and there but nothing much and certainly nothing that should result in zero or almost zero movement on the stats. The company provide articles each month which in honesty I feel could have been lifted form a 10 year old magazine, they don't seem very relevant or interesting. I know its about key word density so maybe I've got it wrong. These articles and the monthly links go to sites which have what seems like no relevance to my business with obscure names and random engines. I was told this was purely for google yahoo profile and nothing else as clients don't look them. but that seems odd to me. Sure we could go on about you receive what you pay for, but prices vary massively. This lady seemed to have proven results and clear communication she explained what I would receive and when to expect result but they've not arrive. I don't know if I should stick with it or call it a day with this ladies company and look for someone else or do the job myself. I've tried addressing this with her below dog the account manager but he just goes on about flash when as I say there isn't any. There is definitely something a miss here but not having the skills myself I can't say. Flat statistics really should be enough for me to be off and I really do feel thats the way I'm headed. Really I guess I am asking if I've got unrealistic expectations or am I just getting a bad service or am I being truly ripped off. I don't want to slate someone we every make mistakes some people are better than others but none of us want to be ripped off do we. Any advice would be much appreciated equally if someone wanted to advice a good relatively inexpensive SEO firm big or tiny I'd be glad to consider that.

Resolved Question: There are still capable, skilled people losing jobs. How do you intend to turn around the rate unemployment?

Over the years I have seen big corporations built up only to arrive crashing down to a screeching halt in less than a couple years. I am concerned that there will be a trickle down effect for many years to arrive. A good number of tiny businesses were and are dependent on these big corporations. Jobs are being lost in these corporations as well as in the companies they support or companies that support the corporations. We need to wake up and start repairing the infrastructure of these corporations or the link between the corporations and the tiny businesses to keep the jobs. In the tardy 90's and on I have heard and seen many outside consultants arrive in to some of these corporations to "prune" them and make them "healthy." If you prune a tree the wrong way, it is going to die. The problem with that is these consultants had no idea what an individual contributed to that corporation. One can easily clip a job or two here or there and think that you can consolidate these jobs, but what it comes down to is that the jobs that were clip were vital to the corporation. Would a consultant know how Sally or Joe contributed to his or her co-worker's success? It seems to me that corporations are not required to be COMPLETELY open and honest about what they are doing to succeed. Let's remember that a corporation is NOT an individual.

Resolved Question: Question for systems analysts/consultants?

I recently took an entry level job as a business systems analyst. We use a ERP system that is similar in function to SAP, but...it isn't SAP. I plan on staying here for a few years, but I was just looking into similar jobs and noticed most require SAP experience. I was wondering what employers think of someone who has systems experience with ERP that is not SAP, and I was also wondering if there is some nice of training or certification I can receive with SAP that would make up for my lack of direct experience. Thanks! :)

Resolved Question: How do you file taxes?

When it comes to taxes, I am completely ignorant. I usually just have a tax consultant do the taxes for me, but I feel like they miss certain details. And I don't like to be in the dark about my possess business. I want to file my taxes on my possess this time. Is there a good book or something that I can use to tutor myself? I'm just a graduate school with a stipend, so there's not much to do. I don't possess a company or anything like that. However, I do need to make some corrections to my 2010 Tax Return that will be transferred to my 2011 Tax Return. I found this book on amazon, but it looks like it's more for pros. Voting Question: How do I become an actress while handling a full time professional job?

I have always wanted to be an actress and want to pursue it NOW. Now or never right? I can't just quit my job (i am a business consultant) because I need to live. I am 25 and I live in Philadelphia. Any opportunities here? I know NY is close and I am originally from there but cannot make trips up there too often right now. How do I receive started? I have never acted (aside from the antics I put on at home for fun), but am passionate about and am motivated to do it. What are the steps I should take? I am not going to pay $1000's to an acting school. Most of them look like scams. Opinions? Suggestions? Anyone in the Philly area who has experience want to coach me? Haha. Thanks in advance! Cogito: I do agree with you that it'll probably take a lot of money and exposure and time unless the talent level is beyond phenomenal. Diamonds: that's just it i'm 25, graduated college, and helped supported my family emotionally by staying home and getting a job as opposed to pursuing something creative since my dad died right before i finished school. I wanted to be home and help my family recover, but now i need to break out and do something chilly. I do not donate money, but i volunteer my time to various shelters and organizations in philadelphia and believe in taking an active role in helping people. i'm not one to sit around praying and wait for god to change things for people, nor do i believe in 'being glad with god' as i have my health, happiness, and money and many people in the world have none of the over. i want to do something exciting.

Voting Question: The Education Industry is Facing an Acute Shortage of Students due to Recession, like never before? Reasons?

The Education & Higher Education Industry this year starting academic year 2010 - 2011 has been facing an acute shortage of students and very needy response is being observed to any newly opened B-schools, Finishing Schools or even "Grooming" & "corporate training" or "corporate ready" schools in India, In my last 8 years of an academic career I have never found the Demand SO LOW from the students community side, whereas, once, there was a time when STUDENTS HAD TO BE PUT IN WAITING LIST OR RAC LIST (Reservation against cancellation). But since last two years, the students on an average is able to receive 15 / 20 or rather more choices for any nice of program he wishes to register for either Graduation or Post Graduation any Faculty of education.. Also there has been a "TREND" and "MINDSET" of every students that ONLY COLLEGES WHICH GIVE GUARANTEED PLACEMENTS / JOBS ARE GOOD and worth taking admission for??? In General, I want to ask this question to the community, society in overall, whats the excat problem in getting or admitting your students in GOOD Really GOOD colleges or Institutions? Lets not Focus on the IIT's or IIM's as its an alltogether different ballgame.. but atleat if someone starts something NEW CONCEPT for betterment / improvement / polishing the students skill sets, then why is the market so SLUGGISH to new ideas? Once upon a TIME, its was regarded as the most prospering & noble industry : Education management industry and now its become like "ANYONE's Industry", A Few non professional people just arrive together and start an institute just coz they have investment capacities..but what about true hardcore faculty members who want to start some unique concept or innovative concept in education.. They dont receive business nowadays? Everything is just interlinked to "COMMERCIALIZATION" in "education" commenst are welcome... Resolved Question: Why did my cash register come up short and what could I do to prevent this?

Why did my cash register arrive up short and what could I do to prevent this? This is my first retail job and I started working at office max about 4 days ago. Well at closing the shift manager told the sales consultant to tell me my register came up short. I was very embarassed bc I try to be precise as possible. The sales consultant then asks me if I ran any checks tonight and I was like no as I did not. The thing is that I only worked on my register from about 5:30 to 10:00pm and did not process any checks. I felt embarassed about the entire thing. The thing is that they would not tell me the amount but re-trained me on running checks (although I did not run checks on this shift). Could someone tell me why my register would arrive up short and what is the best course of action. As I said someone else worked mine every day and I worked it for the night. Also I am having some problems with training. One person trains me to do thing one way and the other trains me to do it another way. There is a LOT of conflicting advice. As I stated I am new in the retail business so who do I need to believe. It's not like the manager directly trains me, the other associates do.

Resolved Question: Technology Consultant Company Name Ideas?

I’ve struggled to arrive up with a name for over 2 months now. Going through various ideas, some good, some not-so-much. A few were unique, but most were just the generic (Insert strong word here) + (Technology related term here). I just haven’t arrive across something that has made me go “Yeah, that’s the one I want.” Field testing hasn’t really returned the greatest responses from clients either so I finally turned here! My clients consist of 30-40% residential computer problems, and 50-60% tiny and medium businesses. So my company focus is not only typical computer repair but also meeting business needs such as cutting IT costs, delivering quick support to multiple business locations, and making sure the company doesn’t step into a giant technological sh**. Due to the variations in my clients I have to adapt to different situations and technologies, and I have to do it quickly. I think this is a huge selling point for me. Adaptable, efficient, knowledgeable in MANY fields, personable (Very social unlike most techs). Location is Southern California. What are some of your ideas?

Resolved Question: Do you think Romney's business thinking is just why we may not want him as president?

To his way of thinking, the housing market, the car industry, and even the stock market should JUST BOTTOM OUT OR GO BANKRUPT OR BE LIQUIDATED!! That may be great for a business, but it likely would be disastrous for a country!! Excerpt from link below: What worried me most about Romney is his remarks in Nevada. Rather than approve the government intervening in the real estate market to help people stay in their homes, Romney said that the real estate market should be allowed to "bottom out." In other words, he doesn't believe that untold, unnecessary personal suffering should be prevented so that they free market system can work its wonders. Romney's possess so called "business career" is exactly aligned with this attitude. It's an attitude of ignoring individual suffering and letting the "free market" work it's wonders, which actually involves people with money and power liquidating workers and middle class employees in order to clip costs, pay massive fees to bankers and "consultants" in the hopes that a business might turn around. In fact, Romney was a job destroyer, not a job creator, a massively incompetent "turn around" specialist whose victim companies tended to go bankrupt. Far from being a moderate or liberal Republican in the mold of Republicans when his dad was a major political figure, Romney recalls the Republicans of the Great Depression era, especially Andrew Mellon who famously said: liquidate labor, liquidate stocks, liquidate farmers, liquidate real estate… it will purge the rottenness out of the system. High costs of living and high living will arrive down. People will work harder, live a more moral life. Values will be adjusted, and enterprising people will pick up from less competent people. Anyone, whether slightly left of middle independent, or "true progressive" who thinks that Romney's policies would be anything like President Obama's policies, is simply objectively wrong. If Romney becomes president, the economic policy will be to let America "bottom out" in the international labor market until our working and middle class can compete with Chinese prison labor. But what worries me even more than a Romney presidency and its economic policy is the reasoning of some of these independents -- the belief that it is appropriate to give in to what Paul Krugman has called Republican "hostage taking" in the wish that if Romney proposes the same thing, hostages will not be taken, and the policies will be passed. For one thing, the polices Romney will propose will not be the policies the Democrats will propose (although many independents think so). But even worse, it further puts our political system on a path toward mid 1970s Latin American oligarchy and gun to the head hostage taking. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/01/04/1051645/-The-Romney-Demographic-that-Worries-me-Most-Independents-who-are-Hostage-Taker-Surrender-Monkeys @Jim Rooks -- Doesn't news reach your basement where you are quarantined? It's been acknowledged by many Repubs that the eight years Bush was in office is what drove the economy into the ditch. President Obama has been trying to dig us out despite an obstructionist-8%-and-dropping-approval-rate-having home GOP! LOL!!

Resolved Question: Why are Recruitment Consultants arrogant idiots? ?

I have rarely ever got a job out them! Do they advertise untrue job adverts just to receive bums on seats? I am really surprised the government hasn't investigated their business model. They seem arrogant becos unless they hav a job that exactly meets their criteria they won't consider you. One recruitment consultant in the UK even said that they mostly recruit women for the office job I applied for.

Voting Question: Independent Contractor for Party Sales...What tax forms?

I am a consultant for Gold Canyon Candles and am an independent contractor. However, I did not make more than $600, so I didn't receive a 1099. I am still interested in knowing what forms I need to file with my 1040 and what deductions I can take and what business activity code would be used? I have a home office and would like to take that deduction. Also, I make cakes and do photography on the side, from my home office. Would I have to do separate forms for each business? I do not have a DBA for either of my businesses and don't have a tax ID number. I need to know what the business activity code is if I were to claim the income. Can anyone answer that question?? I don't need to know that I need a tax ID and to consult a business lawyer. Thanks.
